Forty 4-H members from across Mineral County
entered their exhibits in Mineral County Fair. On Friday, Aug. 1,
five leaders were honored for giving more than 15 years to 4-H. The
“You Are A Peach” program sponsored by the Montana 4-H
Foundation presented certificates to five Mineral County 4-H
leaders. Those honored were: Nancy Garcia, Cathy Kuhl, Betty
Johnson, Juanita Hearst, and Margaret York. The combined total of
years these women have donated to 4-H was in excess of 100
years.

The next meeting of the Mineral County
Historical Society and Museum will be Tuesday, September 9, 7:pm,
at the County Extension Office.
Discussions will include the progress on the
picture book, status of grant submitted by Pat Hayes, and if the
weather co-operates, the history trip to Avery.
Everyone is welcome to be a part of the
organization. Dues are $5 per person or $10 for a family. Being a
member is a good way to inform yourself of the interesting history
of the area. Won’t you join us?

Superior mayor Gordon Hendrick announced he
will run in 2004 as a Republican for House District 71, the
legislative seat previously held by Rep. Sylvia Bookout-Reinicke
(R-Alberton). Sylvia served four terms and cannot run again due to
term limits.

Mineral County defendant-intervenors concluded
their legal briefs in the Lolo post-burn appeal, forcefully
refuting the Sierra Club, Inc.’s arguments and asking the
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to throw out Judge Donald
Molloy’s “erroneous opinion.”

For one night, at least, Sandy Green got the
best of both worlds: she spent the day working with her fire
management team on the Fish Creek fire, and at night went home to
sleep in her own bed.
