Arts Council is launched
by Mary Jo Berry
Live performances, community theater, concerts, and visiting actors and musicians are in the future for Mineral County if the newly organized Mineral County Performing Arts Council (MCPAC) has its way. The group, which formed in March, consists of area residents interested in the Performing Arts. Kay Yost serves as President with Betty Magone Vice President, Monica Ray, Secretary and Jim Goss, Treasurer. MCPAC also includes a new Board of Directors.
The council has filed as a public benefit corporation with the State of Montana and the group is currently seeking a 501( c ) (3) non profit status and will raise funds to help bring a performing arts facility to Mineral County.
The group’s stated purpose is to assist in the development of performing arts and cultural programs, projects, undertakings, studies, training programs, workshops, and other activities beneficial to the public interest.
The Performing Arts Council is planning several fundraisers and is accepting donations from the community. If you would like to donate or would like more information, please contact Kay Yost at 822-3340.
The next meeting is set for May 14, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Forest Service Building. Anyone interested in promoting MCPAA is welcome to attend.
