Ruben E. Sayler Jr.

ObituariesRuben E. Sayler Jr. died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, while he was out reveling in a perfect fall day, riding 4-wheelers with his good friend Harvey.

He was born in Missoula on Dec. 30, 1940, to Ruben and Dorothy Sayler.

He was raised in Missoula and joined the Army in 1957. In 1960 he went to work in the woods as a logger until he was disabled in 1981.

In 1960, he married Patty Jo Smith.

He is survived by his wife Patty Sayler of Alberton; daughter Tammy (Doug) Dove of Huson; son Eric (Jolene) Sayler of Huson; granddaughters Sara Ann Sayler and Jennifer (Nic) DiGiando of Huson; grandson David Nelson of Huson; brothers, Jim (Carrie) Sayler of Missoula and George (Kathy) Sayler of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; sister Dorothy Randles of Rathdrum, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.

The things he loved in life were family, friends and good food. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mining for gold in the great outdoors. His greatest joy during the last 11 years was his granddaughter Sara Ann Sayler.

Please join the family for a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Nine Mile Community Center. An outdoor service will be held weather permitting, with a reception to follow.
