'Understanding mountain lions' at UM March 28
Wildlife enthusiasts, scientists, and sportsmen are invited to attend an upcoming conference that will explore the latest research, scientific understanding, and management of mountain lions. The conference is free and open to the public, and will be held March 28 from noon to 5 p.m. at the North Underground Lecture Hall at University of Montana. Leading experts will share their research-based understandings of these reclusive cats through the following presentations:
· Dynamics of mountain lion/gray wolf interactions (Dr. Toni Ruth);
· Predator/prey relationships (Dr. Hillary Coolidge);
· Lessons learned from the Garnet Mountain Lion Study (Richard De Simone);
· Management of lions in the mix of other predators, prey species and hunter expectations (Mike Thompson and Jim Williams).
