The second annual Upper Petty Creek Community Yard Sale will be held Saturday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Horse Creek Ranch, 3890 Petty Creek Road, off I-90 exit 77 (eight miles up Petty Creek Road-- follow signs). Huge collection of sporting goods/guns, household/craft items, furniture, saddles/tack and even a 19 ft. sailboat! Well worth the trip!
The adult education course “Basic Computer Literacy” will be taught in Frenchtown Tuesday nights from 6-8 p.m. starting June 17. Topics include: hardware, installation and setup, printing, email accounts, Internet searches, using the World Wide Web, attachments, word processing and spreadsheets. The two-hour class costs $10. To register, call Debbie Tholstrom, 626-2600 by the Friday before the class. Classes scheduled based on demand -sign up today! Sylvia Bookout Reinicke is hosting a $100-per-plate fundraising dinner for Roy Brown at her home near Alberton Friday, June 13, at 7 p.m. Food will be home cooked and very tasty, as Sylvia is known to be a good cook, and there is room for 30 people. The ABC-TV reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is looking for Montana hometown heroes whose single-family home deserves a makeover that will make a huge difference in their lives. To nominate a Montana family, email your phone number and a short description of the family story to castmontana@ gmail.com. Include the names and ages of each member of the household along with a description of the major challenges within the home, and explain why this family is deserving, heroic, or a positive role model in their community. Sierra Club spring wildflower hike to Packer Meadow/Lolo Pass, Sat. June 14, meet 9 a.m. to carpool from Missoula (Big Lots parking lot). Join us for an six-mile hike on the Lewis and Clark/Nez Perce Trail as we hike from Bobcat Creek (Hwy 12) to Packer Meadow to hopefully see some early purple Camas blooms. This is a moderately strenuous hike. Horticulturist Adrienne Hopkins will help us identify wildflowers and plants along the way. Bring your lunch and plenty of water. Rain cancels the hike. The Mineral County Friends of the Library welcomes new members to help support the county library system. Formed in 2001, our raffles, bake sales, coffee rest stops, and chili “read and feeds” have raised hundreds of dollars to support the library’s limited budget. Donations of cash or prizes are sought for the first annual summer solstice Poker Ride on June 21 to benefit Mineral County Search and Rescue (in memory of Jack Ermels). Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Four Aces Bar, Superior, $5 per hand. We gladly accept and appreciate all donations, which are 100 percent tax deductible.
