The Chrony Award

The envelope please... and the winner of the first ever Chrony Award is John Appelt of Huson, co-founder of the local group Seniors to Save Our Homes. John represents a Jeffersonian ideal of the active and informed citizen.

The group was launched at the start of the 2007 legislature and promoted fiscal conservatives at all levels of government. Over the last two years, the group has helped elect three Frenchtown Fire board members who pledged to roll back the budget.

Stan Lucier helped choose the form of our first award when he said some members of the fire board seemed to always be nodding their heads in agreement, just like “bobbleheads.”

We expect that the Chrony Award will take different shapes and forms each year, but for our first-ever award, a Thomas Jefferson bobblehead figure holding a copy of the Declaration of Independence seemed fitting.

We offer our congratulations (and thanks) to John Appelt and the other Seniors to Save Our Homes.
