Racene Friede will be the speaker at the Chamber of Commerce dinner Thursday, April 24, at the Alberton Senior Center. The gathering begins at 6:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 7 p.m. Friede is executive director of the Glacier County Regional Tourism Commission and will speak on regional partnerships and marketing. A native Montanan raised in a small community, Friede earned a Communications degree from MSU and served as Director of the Bozeman Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Frenchtown Spirit Boosters kindly requests your help at a few upcoming Bronc spring events. The softball team will be hosting the Frenchtown Tournament April 26--and the track CTA Meet will be held the same weekend. The track team can always use timers and helpers at all home events. A lucky raffle winner will claim a brand-new Mossberg .270 (100 ATR with 3-9x40 scope), in a fundraising event for Mineral County 4-H Shooting Sports. Dahkota Hayes has qualified for the national tournament in Grand Island, Neb. June 23-26. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25. The drawing will be held June 2. The Mineral County Medical Foundation will sponsor its second annual spring auction April 26. Last year's event was both fun and profitable--it helped us meet the matching funds requirement to purchase the Picture Archiving and Retrieval System (PACS). We will accept donations the week before the event and we can arrange pickup if needed. A free choral concert will be offered Tuesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Superior Baptist Church. Missoula’s premier vocal ensemble Dolce Canto will present "How Can I Keep From Singing?"—a concert of traditional folk songs and a cappella choral compositions from many lands. This concert is sponsored by the Mineral County Performing Arts Series. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Works from Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, the Philippines, Poland, and the United States will be featured. Dolce Canto is a mixed-voice volunteer chorus with professional standards. The choir is comprised of professional musicians, music teachers, community members and students who share an enthusiasm for the choral art form. Students from Alberton, Superior, and St. Regis are among more than 5,500 students from Montana schools participating in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana's Junior Governor's Cup Training Program during April and May. Sue Hazlett, Barb Jasper, and Cindy Feasel are overseeing the six-week program. It emphasizes warm-up and cool-down exercises, proper nutrition, and rest, and is scheduled to help students train for the annual Governor's Cup event June 7 in Helena. All students will receive a free shirt and a medal for taking part in the training.
Denyse Traeder, project director, Mineral County Healthy Community Project, will be our guest speaker 11 a.m. Monday April 28 at the Clark Fork Chronicle staff meeting, River Edge, Alberton.
The elementary spring concert will be held in the elementary gym on Tuesday April 29 at 2 p.m.

The Mineral County Republican Central Committee will host the first annual Lincoln-Reagan Dinner May 1 at the Rock N Rodeo in Superior. In addition to our 16th and 40th presidents, the dinner will also honor John Anderson. Guest speaker will be former Montana Gov. Judy Martz. Other speakers during the evening will be Roy Brown (candidate for Governor), candidates for Attorney General, U. S. Senate, and Mineral County Commissioner. Social Hour starts at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. There will also be an auction during the evening with many great items available for you to bid on and purchase, including autographed books and tickets to Presidential Libraries. Tickets are $15 per person and available by calling Al Acheson at 822-4643.

The Ninemile Wildlife Workgroup meets the first Tuesday of each month, 7 p.m., at the Ninemile Ranger Station's Visitor Center. Residents of Ninemile, Sixmile, Huson and Petty Creek are especially welcome to join us in our efforts to maintain the historic and regionally important Ninemile Wildlife Corridor which overlays these areas.
